    PLACEHOLDER, 2017/19, 64 pieces

PLACEHOLDER consists of one photograph of Ground Zero and a series of phoographs of steel columns left from the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York (1973–2001). Cut to ground level, they remained as „footprints.“ The photographies appear graphical and abstract. The squared lines could remind of the square areas on which the building of the Twin Towers once stood. As Placeholders both represent the physical collaps of the building, the failure of capitalism and do question to what extend artists can critize capitalism while their artworld belongs to the same system on which they depend on.
